A New Stove

This morning, Steve worked on on our most recent bus project:

We are planning to install this antique, cast iron stove here:
We tiled the hearth earlier this year. The tile should make the stove safer (no danger from sparks when you open the door) and more efficient (by holding in heat). Notice the pipe coming down from the ceiling. That is the chimney, which goes through the roof of the bus and takes the smoke out. We do have a carbon monoxide alarm in the bus, just in case, but the bus is more drafty than most houses with wood stoves.

The old stove produced more heat than we needed, so we hope this smaller stove will be just right. I will post pictures once it's installed.

  1. Yay! Glad the new interest helped motivate you to update the blog! I always love hearing your bus stories. Can't wait to see the new stove all put together with the new tile. It was also great fun using the flat roof to its fullest this summer, lounging up top with such good views of the river, beer and salsa in hand.

  2. Awesome. Very inspiring.

The woods look a bit like Bend, Oregon.

    1. I'm happy to get to share our experiences! I'd say our climate is similar to Bend.
